A very fine example of an important early Illinois-issued carte de visite created shortly into Lincoln's presidency, likely intended to celebrate Illinois' own and of course to generate profit for its producer.

Issued by R. R. Landon of Chicago, the image is a finely engraved pastiche, incorporating Lincoln himself engraved based on the photograph of Thomas Le Mere in May of 1861 and Mary Todd Lincoln based on the photograph of Mathew B. Brady taken in February of 1861.

Desirable and rather unusual on the market, especially in this state. The present example in a much better state of preservation than that held by the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection.
