The text itself is an unusual larger 8vo \"Great Primer\" edition of the Psalms which has had a sort of franken-repair effected by overspining the binding with tent canvas or similar, leaving a rather interesting visual effect.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe volume was presented just prior to the Civil War by Rev. Hiram B. Collins, pastor of the Methodist Church in Franklin, Indiana, to one of his parishioners. Shortly thereafter, Rev. Collins would request a leave of absence to join the Union cause, where served as Captain of \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eCompany K, Seventy-Second Regiment of the Indiana Infantry. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"left\"\u003eMustered into service August 16, 1862, the Seventy-Second left on the following day for Kentucky, combining with Buell's army and engaging in Bragg's invasion. They afterward arrived at Murfreesboro and were there ordered to be mounted and afterward served as mounted infantry. It made several scouts from Murfreesboro, and captured horses enough to mount the entire regiment. The men were armed with Spencer rifles, and were a part of what was known as the Wilder Lightning Brigade. In 1863, leading his mounted troops, he developed typhoid fever and expired. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"left\"\u003eThe regiment would go on to join General Sherman's army, and moved with it through Mississippi on the Meridian raid. During this expedition it covered the retreat of General Smith, then returned to Memphis, and from there moved to Nashville. On March 26, 1864, it joined the Third Brigade, Second Cavalry Division and moved to Columbia, whence it started on the Atlanta campaign on the 30th of April. From that time until the last of August the regiment was continually engaged  in battle through the Capture of Atlanta. When Sherman commenced his march through Georgia the horses of the Seventy-second were turned over to Kilpatrick's division, and the regiment ordered to Louisville to be remounted.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"left\"\u003eThey were later  moved to Gravelly Springs, Alabama, serving under General Wilson in the capture of Selma and Montgomery, Alabama, and Columbus and Macon, Georgia. After the capture of Richmond and the surrender of Lee, the regiment was sent out by detachments to intercept the flight of Jeff.
