An absolutely beautiful, and original accordion binding book composed apparently by a missionary to the Shan States of Burma / Myanmar during the 1920's. This region, and especially the Karen peoples, were the primary people served by Adoniram Judson. In fact, it was Judson who first made Western contact with the Karen in 1827.
Each right facing page has a stylized, high quality gouache illustration of a unique Shan State typical female apparel. These include: Shan, Taungthu, Taunyoe, Striped Karen, Black Karen, Red Karen, Padaung, Ekaw, Muso, Maingtha, Hkun, Palaung, Lishaw, Palaung - Namshan, Shan Tayoke, Kaghin, Shan Man, Intha Rowing.
Very good with minor handling marks on the title and throughout; some light transfer from gouache to the opposite page, but without loss to the original image.
