1643 JEREMIAH BURROUGHS Et Al. Puritan & Covenanter Sermons Against the Crown RARE w/Period Manuscript Notes
Exceptionally rare group of addresses by four important English puritans written to the Scottish Covenanters who had just adopted the Solemn League and Covenant asking for their support and assistance during the English Civil War in resistance of the Crown.
Important historical document with a fantastic original manuscript note on the title, indicating these are "Devilish speeches to stir up rebellion . . . " And then rather heated, contemporary notes throughout rebuking the Westminster Assembly and Covenanters, etc., The original owner was clearly not a fan.
