Very scarce issue of the conferences of William Sibbald [Covenanter], Samuel Bolton [Presbyterian, Westminster Assembly], and Thomas Hodges [Covenanter, Westminster Assembly] on the scaffold with three accused royalists and an account of their final beheadings.

The men beheaded included James Hamilton, Heir to the Throne in Scotland, Henry Rich, close friend of Charles I and whose brother was a Presbyterian member of the Parliament that sentenced him to the scaffold, and Arthur Capell, who had surrendered in 1648 on assurances that his life would be spared. It wasn't.

The Several Speeches of Duke Hamilton Earl of Cambridge, Henry Earl of Holland, and Arthur Lord Capel, upon the Scaffold Immediately before their Execution, on Friday the 9. of March. Also several Exhortations, and Conferences with them, upon the Scaffold, by Dr. Sibbald, Mr. Bolton, & Mor. Hodges. London. Printed for Peter Cole, Francis Tyton, and John Playford. 1649. 43pp.

Very scarce in any state; textually complete with some losses to the upper right. The upper right loss decreases throughout the work and never impedes the text, which is on the whole rather crisp and clean.
