Perhaps the most influential educator in the church during the age, he is today remembered through the name of his most significant student, Thomas of Aquinas.

Johann von Staupitz [1460-1525] was also an influential German theologian and educator, best remembered today as the spiritual mentor and confessor of Martin Luther.
