This is the first edition of his first revival work. He published a volume by the same name in 1738, but the sermons were far below these in Evangelical tenor. This, in a way, was his publishing debut as the premier evangelist of the Great Awakening. It also includes the first woodcut of Whitefield I believe to have been issued. It is rarely present, but is here.
Original full calf, rubbed, but very solid and attractive. Blank ffep lacking; frontis woodcut of Whitefield present [rare]; Title excised at some point. All text present, solidly bound and crisp aside from a moderate tide line across the bottom 15% of the block. Last leaf folded but present and complete. Blank rfep absent.
Only three locations.
