1749 HUMPREY PRIDEAUX. The Old and New Testament Connected - 4 Volumes - Jonathan Edwards!
Many years ago now we sold Jonathan Edwards' own personal copy of this work. It was a standard of his library, heavily used by him in personal study of the interplay between the Old and New Testament and connecting them to the cultural context of the ancient world around them.
It is also routinely referenced by Spurgeon, especially in his Treasury of David.
A lovely edition of this theological and biblical studies classic.
Prideaux, Humphrey. The Old and New Testament Connected in the History of the Jews and Neighbouring Nations, from the Declension of the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah to the Time of Christ. Four Volumes Complete. London. Printed for J. and R. Tonson and S. Draper in the Strand, and H. Lintot. 1749. 818 + 944pp.
Very solid and attractive on the shelf. Would benefit from a wax. Volume number label half lacking from volume one and lacking altogether from volume three. Title labels all present. Chipping at head of volume one. Very solid volumes, textually good and crisp. A few folding plates folded awkwardly resulting in some dusting and tears. Complete though.
