A superb sermon preached before the Synod of New York by Great Awakening divine, David Bostwick [1720-1763] and opened with a recommendation by one of the pre-eminent evangelists of the Great Awakening, Gilbert Tennent:

"I rejoice, that the important seasonable subject of preaching Christ, and not ourselves, is so well handled in the following discourse; I heartily wish, and humbly pray, that the gracious Jehovah would bless it to the good of many, and that the worthy author may be long continued, a burning and shining light in the church of God. G. Tennent."

The work was considered of such clarity and import that after its 1758 imprint in Philadelphia, it was issued in London the following year. It was published again in the 19th century. Now rare on the market; no copies available at the time of cataloguing.

Bostwick, David. Self Disclaimed, and Christ Exalted: A Sermon Preached at Philadelphia, before the Reverend Synod of New-York, May 25, 1758. Published at the Request of the Members of the Synod. Philadelphia Printed. London. Reprinted for E. Dilly at the Rose and Crown in the Poultry. 1759. 38pp.

Good, textually clean with some toning. Very tender, first pair of leaves detached. Flotsam from old sammebland present.
