1761 JOHN BUNYAN. Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners. Charming Early Edition w/Frontis
A really wonderfully preserved early edition of what amounts to John Bunyan's autobiography, accompanied by the original and rare naive frontis issued with this edition and often lacking.
Bunyan, John. Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners in a Faithful Account of the Life and Death of John Bunyan. Or, A Brief Relation of the Exceeding Mercy of God in Christ to Him. Namely, in His Taking Him Out of the Dunghil, and Converting of Him to the Faith of His Blessed Son Jesus Christ. Here is Also Particularly Shewed, What Sight of, and what Trouble he had, for Sin; and also, what various Temptations he hath met with; and how God hath carried him through them all. Corrected and much enlarg'd by the Author, for the Benefit of the Tempted and Dejected Christian. Eleventh Edition, with His Character. London. Printed by W. Johnston, at the Golden-Ball. 1761. 180pp.
Original plain calf binding, very nicely patinated if somewhat warn, with naive patch repair at head, but not detracting. No pastedowns at front or rear. Blank ffep present with period inscription present by Jeane Burtis. Frontis and all text rather crisp, tidy, and clean. Binding, thou hast done thy job!
