A very smart, early impression of one of Boston's less often reprinted works, i.e. his work specifically on the Covenant of Grace.
Thomas Boston (1676-1732), was an influential Scottish Presbyterian minister toward the end of the Puritan era in Scotland. He significantly influenced Reformed theology, especially "marrow" theology, particularly through his works like The Fourfold State, The Crook in the Lot, and The Marrow of Modern Divinity notes. He was especially interested in the Covenantal element of God's saving acts, and through his writings impacted American Great Awakening theologians like Jonathan Edwards.
His deep spirituality, clarity in explaining complex doctrines (especially concerning Christ's sufficiency and the Free Offer), and pastoral zeal left a lasting legacy on both common believers and theologians.
Boston, Thomas. A View of the Covenant of Grace from the Sacred Records. Wherein the Parties in that Covenant, the Making of it, its Parts Conditionary and Promissery, and the Administration thereof, are distinctly considered. Together with the Trial of a saving Personal Inbeing in it, and the Way of Instating Sinners therein unto their eternal Salvation. To which is subjoined, a Memorial concerning Personal and Family Fasting and Humiliation, presented to Saints and Sinners. By the late Reverend and Learned Mr. Thomas Boston. Minister of the Gospel at Ettrick. Edinburgh David Paterson. 1761. 410pp.
