A very fine, and apparently unpublished outline for an address or sermon, by Presbyterian theologian and apologist, Nathaniel Lardner [1684-1768].

Aside from his still widely utilized and massive works defending the credibility of the Scripture record, etc., one of the other significant contentions of Lardner was that Scripture alone was sufficient for the full revelation of God in Christ. While he affirmed the value of natural ,or rational, revelation, he stands in the early tradition of other presuppositional apologists of more recent name like Cornelius Van Til, Gordon Clark, etc.,

The present outline deals with this precise issue, querying whether we may reasonably extract from nature that God is of such a character as he would clearly articulate his will [which, for him, defines the limit of rational inquiry], on the reasons necessary for a textual expression of God's person and will, on the limits of natural revelation, on the role of miracles, etc., 12 points in all, with the twelfth being "A Gospel Application," which we take to mean that he was likely using the outline in a preaching capacity rather than an educational one.

A very attractive and interesting survivor.
