Mason, William. The Gospel Magazine; or, Treasury of Divine Knowledge designed to Promote Experimental Religion. 1774. London. Vallance and Simmons. 1774. 599pp.

Very rare, includes many original hymns [including by Augustus Toplady and John Newton, published under his pseud. Omicron] with music, letters by John Newton, original engraved music and portrait plates, etc., The following year Toplady himself would take over as editor.

Importantly, it includes a very early, if not first, printed edition of God Moves in a Mysterious Way by William Cowper. How Vast the Benefits Divine by Toplady makes its first appearance here as well.

Half leather, rubbed, tide mark over lower third of text, generally faint. Good copy of a rare and desirable volume.
