A really charming early edition of Christopher Harvey's classic devotions on the heart, and really beautiful metaphorical woodcuts. Harvey [1597-1663] was born to his puritan divine father, also Christopher Harvey, who was friends with Samuel Torshell, and others. Upon his father's death, his mother married the puritan, Thomas Pierson. He was one of the truly great devotional poets of the era and published a series of poems that were issued as "The Synagogue" and appended to George Herbert's works.
