Very rare early imprint of John Fletcher's contribution, at the behest of John Wesley, into the ongoing debate between Augustus Toplady and John Wesley on the issue of Calvinism. The debate centered specifically the decrees to salvation and damnation by sovereign election.

Toplady was of course the famous Calvinist divine and author of the anti-Wesley satirical hymn, "Rock of Ages," and Wesley was his public theological nemesis.

Fletcher, John. An Answer to the Rev. Mr. Toplady's "Vindication of the Decrees," &c. London. Printed and sold at the New Chapel, City Road. And at the Rev. Mr. Wesley's. Preaching Houses in Town and Country. 1788. 127pp.

Very good, crisp edition apparently part of a larger sammelband at some point. Complete with remains of original binding on spine. Very clean.
