1790 SAMUEL MILLER. Presbyterian Divine's Personal Copy of Morell's Greek Lexicon.
Bound in later library buckram, but textually very good. this is a wonderful Presbyterian / Princeton item. Boldly and distinctively signed by prominent Presbyterian divine and theologian, Samuel Miller [1769-1850], on the title.
It would be difficult to think of someone who could "out-Presbyterian" Samuel Miller in the period . . . perhaps Charles Hodge being a close [if a bit later] second. Miller served as the Professor of Ecclesiastical and Church Government at Princeton and in many ways narrated a theology of Presbyterianism for the era. He wrote a biography of John Rodgers, Essays on the Office of the Ruling Elder, The Primitive and Apostolical Order of the Church of Christ Vindicated, Presbyterianism - Primitive and Apostolical, The Utility and Importance of the Creeds and Confessions, etc.,
