Excellent work on the person of Christ by one of the most prominent preachers and historians of the American Revolutionary War era; he was baptized by the famed Thomas Prince and studied theology at Harvard. He was Chaplain at the Battle of Lexington in 1775, before formal hostilities, and served during the entirety of the conflict as a faithful preacher of the Gospel to the American troops.
And here he is arguing for the unique character and worth of Christ Jesus over and against Thomas Paine and his "age of reason."
Belknap, Jermey. On the Character, Death, & Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the Evidence of His Gospel; With Remarks on some Sentiments Advanced in a Book Entitled "The Age of Reason." Boston. From the Apollo Press. 1795. 140pp.
A good + copy, bound in half leather, generally solid, with the hinges being breached, but still solid as well. Pages are toned throughout, and the text block is cropped close at the tope edge, but loss is contained to the headings only.
