Very rare first edition of the first work published on Exclusive Psalmody in America. John Anderson [b.1748] was born and ordained to the Presbyterian ministry in Scotland before emigrating to America in 1783, where he became a prominent preacher and theological lecturer and professor. Scarce in the trade.

A Vindication of the Doctrine Taught in the Preceding Discourse. With an Appendix: Containing Essays and Observations on Various Subjects. A good + copy, bound in leather with a small chip at the head of the rear hinge. The first signature is a bit pulled, but is generally solid, with light foxing, and minor ex library markings.
