A rather nicely preserved early American imprint of Adam Smith's magnum opus on Free Market economies, etc., Originally printed in 1776, it deeply influenced Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and other early American Founders. 

An inferior example of the same edition just fetched nearly double our asking price at auction.

A good + set, bound in leather, generally solid, with generally bright pages and light foxing. One volume has the "volume" onlay lacking, some minor chips to spine labels, abrasions at head of the spine as shown. Neatly consolidated. Very slightest tenderness at front hinge.
