A very nice, and affordable example of the best imprint of John Gill's classic nine volume exposition. Exceptional quality binding that will last for generations.
John Gill [1697-1771] was Spurgeon's pastoral predecessor at the New Park Street Chapel, later to become the Metropolitan Tabernacle. And Spurgeon highly praised his predecessor's scholarly work, saying:
"For good, sound, massive, sober sense in commenting, who can excel Gill?".
And Spurgeon included Gill's works in his influential book Commenting and Commentaries as an essential resource for pastors and Bible students, highlighting Gill's scholarly use of Hebrew and Jewish literature, one of the first to take Jewish backgrounds as seriously as the Graeco-Roman.
This set usually fetches $400 - $600. Because of the light highlighting, we're offering it quite affordably.

Gill, John. An Exposition of the New Testament in Three Volumes. Baptist Standard Bearer Facsimile of the 1810 Edition. 1989.
Good + in original quality cloth, acid free paper, and bound with smyth-sewn construction. Top edge of text blocks have some foxing, cloth very slightly rubbed, bumped, or with minor abrasions. Boards very slightly bowed, as somewhat usual. Four of the volumes are free of markings. The other five have some sporadic ink and highlight with the remains of a few marginal labels, which have now been removed with very slight impact to text / paper. Some light use soil on foredge of text block.
