An absolutely splendid 1810 MSs account of the visions and miraculous healing of a young woman, Sarah [Sally] Spencer. Seemingly written for the purpose of publication, we do not trace it in any publication. It is one of the more unusual accounts of the miraculous we have come across, including extended multi-day heavenly visions, treatment with mercury and laudanum, her loss of teeth from the mercury, her miraculous healing, and the unusual feature of the appearance of brand new teeth as part of her miraculous recovery.

On a large bifolium, the text as follows:

A Correct Account Wonderful And of The Surprising Vision of Sarah Spencer,
Now living near Elizabeth-Town in the State of New Jersey as related in a letter to a respectable person living in this City.

A remarkable instance of God's goodness and grace was shown to Sally. Perhaps she has written to you, if not, I will give you a short account of God's dealing to her, she wrote to me of the date, February the last, of her recovery from a state of illness which brought her to the brink of eternity. She thought herself dying and unprepared for death, she looked up to Christ and strove to put her trust in him, but all was dark and gloomy; after her blood began to circulate, she grew warm and fell in a daze, and had a remarkable scene brought to her view; she heard a voice calling Sarah, at which she awoke and saw a form resembling her father, at which she exclaimed in a tone of horror, Oh! My father art thou come to take me out of time into eternity. He replied no child, I saw thee alone and as a dove in the wilderness, and am come to comfort you. Then was represented to her view Jesus in the garden, in his agony and bloody sweat, from this she was lead to Mount Calvary where she saw Christ ascended on the cross, myriads of angels around the cross in silent anguish, and pointing to the redeemer. All nature seemed convulsed, the rocks rent, the graves opened, thousands of little children stood around the cross and pointed to the suffering Savior. She saw the Holy Spirit in form of a dove descending and hovering around her, and a voice repeated.
When her attendants thought her dying, which was about three hours, she recovered and called all to come and see the suffering Savior, for she thought all beheld the scene represented to her, and from that time she was enabled to put her whole trust in Christ, and have full confidence in God through the merits of her Savior and she told them she should recover, when they thought her on the brink of eternity; for ten days, in which time she says she could not have slept more than three days, she was constantly praying for the whole world, and she saw thousands and tens of thousands released from the earth, entering the gates of paradise; there she saw many of her friends prostrate themselves before throne, singing to God and the Lamb.
She saw her brother Robert, and says that his body lies in the bottom of the ocean, but his soul is in heaven and begs no one to pass sentence on the most abandoned sinner, for the penitential sigh is heard, and as Christ says "This day thou shalt be with me in paradise."
For three days she saw large rolls of parchment unfolding and a pen constantly writing, which predicted the near approach of the Millennium when themselves lamb and the lion shall lay down together and all the trees in the forest shall bend their boughs for joy. Her memory is entirely renewed, she remembered all she had read since she was ten years old, of history and sacred writing, and compared them together and applauded the scripture.
Her complaint was the Jaundice and her physician gave her large doses of laudanum to procure her sleep, which brought violent vomiting her sufferings were beyond description, but she had full confidence in god's promises to her that she should recover, and that she should make known his power, and she says that she was a mere spectacle; her skin was of an orange color, and by the large doses of mercury that she was given her she lost all her teeth, but her complexion became clear and youthful, and God has given her new teeth; four have grown to their full length, others were growing, and her whole nature seemed to be renewed, and her whole heart overflowed with thankfulness; and she ascribes all to the goodness of god.
