A rather charming full leather American imprint of Carl [Karl] Heinrich von Bogatzky's [1690-1745] classic devotional work. Disowned by his father for pursuing a life devoted to religious studies, writing, psalmody, and the care of orphans, he was one of the most influential authors among the pietists. Interestingly, like Hermann Francke, he founded an orphange.

It is now wonder that 100 years later, when George Muller emigrated from Germany to Bristol, he found a similar passion for the fatherless and motherless children there.

Bogatzky, C. H. V. A Golden Treasury for the Children of God, Whose Treasure is in Heaven: Consisting of Select Texts of the Bible, with Practical Observations, in Prose and Verse, for Every Day in the Year. By C. H. V. Bogatzky. With some Alterations and Improvements by Various Hands. Also, a Preface, on the Right Use of this Book, Together with a Few Forms of Prayer for Private Use. New York. Published by Evert Duyckinck. 1811. 384pp.

A very good copy, bound in leather, generally solid, with light foxing. Ex library with label remains at base of spine. Quite a handsome imprint.
