Very rare English translation of Chateaubriand's history of the early Martyrdoms of the Christian Church. A noted French historian, his apologetic defense of Christianity is a classic and went through many editions in English. The translation of his historical work, here, is very rare. There are currently no other copies on the market we can trace. And this one is exceptionally preserved and quite lovely with a custom half sheep binding.
