A really beautifully bound and finely printed edition of a rather scarce title by Baxter, focused on works of practical piety, personal prayer, etc., I don't recall ever handling this imprint before.
Baxter, Richard. The Poor Man's Best Companion: In Plain and Familiar Dialogues. With Forms of Prayer for Various Uses. To which are added, The One Thing Needful, or, Christ's Justification of Mary's Choice; and A Sermon on Judgment, &c. &c. &c. Manchester: Printed by Russell and Allen. 1812.
Beautifully consolidated full calf binding with multi-color tree calf on boards and speckled calf on spine, simple gold line tooling, and contrasting morocco label. The whole also on a lovely grey-tone laid paper. Beautifully typeset.
A small split to head of front hinge, nothing structural, corners are bumped. Else a rather fine example.
