Fascinating little volume. Claudius Buchanan [1766-1815] was missionary of the Church Missionary Society to India, eventually become Vice Provost of the College of Fort William in Bengal.

By 1810, his health was in crisis and returned for a furlough to England for his health and spent time at the Buxton Wells Medicinal Waters, where he was apparently called upon to preach to the others present on a given Sunday. He chose to preach on the healing waters at Bethesda. A fascinating discourse. [Medicinal bathing, water cure, etc.]

A bit inexplicably, perhaps joined solely because it was delivered during the same period back in England prior to returning to India, we have also a speech he delivered relative to the Jews in the East before the London Society for Promoting Christianity among the Jews. Includes some good content relative to Joseph Samuel C. F. Frey, etc.,

Then, oddly enough, published here in the United States, perhaps for the benefit of the various hot springs and natural springs in New York at Saratoga Springs, etc., Unusual on the market.
