1817 FRANCIS ASBURY. JEREMIAH BURROUGHS & RICHARD BAXTER. Causes, Evils, and Cures of Christian Division. Rare.
Very rare early 19th century imprint of scarce works by two influential 17th century puritans, Jeremiah Burroughs and Richard Baxter. Both Burroughs [see his Irenicum] and Baxter were generous puritans who labored against the narrowing circle of communion held by other Independents and Presbyterians. A wonderful little read and very unusual on the market.
Asbury, Francis [ed.] Burroughs, Jeremiah and Richard Baxter. The Causes, Evils, and the Cures of Heart and Church Divisions. Extracted from the Works of Jeremiah Burroughs and Richard Baxter. New York. Published by J. Soule and T. Mason for the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States. J. C. Totten Printer. 1817.
Attractive plain calf pocket-sized volume; some rubbing, but sound. Interior solid, pages a bit rippled with some moderate foxing as shown. A good copy of a scarce imprint.
