1819. GAWEN BALL. Premonitory Extracts. Accounts of the Gift of Prophecy - Precognition among the Quakers.
A very scarce work "not published" in 1819 cataloguing the instances of "premonition" or the gift of prophecy at work among the early Quakers. It was not issued by a publisher, but issued and distributed gratis by its author, Gawen Ball.
Hoping to avoid charges of enthusiasm or a desire for income, he distributed it at no cost, quietly, and also included accounts of Church of England divines as well. It seems his intention was the revitalize the imminent spiritual usefulness and vitality of the Quaker community by demonstrating one mark of the Spirit's presence among them in the past. A fascinating a very scarce work.
