A nice little early 19th century sammelband including the first six issues of the short-lived "The Village" literary paper. It's editor is not known, but has inscribed this copy as the Hermit & Lay Preacher, letting us know the sections issued under those headings were both authored by the periodical's anonymous curator.
Issue No. 5, included here, includes one of the earliest articles on guitars published in America.
