An excellent volume of the works of one of the most influential "forgotten" figures of the Great Awakening in England.

John Gambold [1711-1771] was early friends with Charles and John Wesley and an avid Methodist and exponent of the Methodist Revival. Over time, his mystic bent led him to throw in with the Moravians in London. He became an influential leader there, regular correspondent of Nicholas von Zinzendorf at Herrnhut, and Bishop of the Moravians at London.

Gambold, John. The Works of the Rev. John Gambold, A. M. Late One of the Bishops of the United Brethren. With Introductory Essay, by Thomas Erskine, Esq. Advocate, Author of Remarks on the Internal Evidence for the Truth of Revealed Religion. Second Edition. Glasgow. Printed for Chalmers and Collins. 1823. 300pp.

A good + copy, bound in attractive pebble morocco. Rubbed at the extremities, but solid and quite attractive. Generally bright pages and only light foxing.
