David William Jones [1790-1862(?)] was born in Kentucky, a large contingent of the family emigrating to Missouri sometime around 1820.

According to The History of Cooper County [p.222] "David Jones settled at Pisgah prior to 1820, since his vote was recorded in that year. He, with Archibald Kavanaugh , was elected to the State Legislature in 1830 , 1832 , 1834 and in 1836 he was elected State Senator, and re-elected in 1848. Even earlier, he was listed as a Territory Representative for Howard County in 1818.

Also signed by Dr. James P[ryor]Harrison [1811-1877], also an influential early Missourian, likely acquired from the Jones family after David's death.
