Very rare Scottish edition of the life of Pliny Fisk [1792-1825], pioneer missionary to Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, etc., with the A.B.C.F.M. A graduate of Andover and one of those influenced by the Haystack Prayer Revival, etc., his life was of great interest in Scotland where Edward Irving and others had just begun preaching the premillennial return of Christ and a concretized vision for a return of Jews to Israel. This culminated in the Mission of Enquiry to the Jews, etc.,
This copy was Alvan Bond's personal copy, signed on the ffep, then inscribed to his wife on the reverse of the frontis, and then signed again on the title.
