An absolutely beautifully bound edition of a wonderful work on a rather unusual theme; a whole course of sermons on the importance of preaching, on hearing preaching properly, etc.,
Edward Bickersteth [b.1786] was a prominent Evangelical from his earliest years. He preached for and traveled for the Church Missionary Society, the Society for the Conversion of Jews, etc., Quite rare in any state, let alone in this fine binding.
Bickersteth, Edward. The Christian Hearer; Designed to Shew the Importance of Hearing the Word, and to Assist Christians in Hearing with Profit. London. L. B. Seeley and Sons. 1828.
Very attractive full calf in deep blue, raised bands, contrasting morocco label, tooled boarders and diced panels. Really lovely. Some fading to dye, but still very attractive. Very sound with only minor rubbing, some light foxing as shown. Good + to very good.
