1829 BARTON W. STONE. Cane Ridge Revival - Stone-Campbell Hymnal. Excessively Rare!
No copies on the market at any price! The present hymnal was produced by Barton W. Stone, one of the primary leaders of the Second Great Awakening, and specifically at the deeply experiential revival at Cane Ridge, KY. He later joined, 1832, with Alexander Campbell. That same year, a second edition of this work was issued, but then replaced with a hymnal edited by Campbell.
The present hymnal deeply emphasizes the work of the Spirit at the work of Christ as the central features of Christianity rather than explicit doctrinal concerns. It is, to my knowledge, the only only hymnal published as a direct result of and flowing immediately out of the earlier revivals at Cane Ridge.
I have never seen the present work offered, there are no copies on the market, and it is not even available in facsimile.
