1830 PHILIP DODDRIDGE. Rise and Progress of Religion in the Soul. Book that Changed Wilberforce.
A very attractive full-calf edition of the work that was instrumental in vivifying the faith of William Wilberforce; a true classic on authentic spiritual and experimental Christianity.
Doddridge, Philip [1702-1751]. Rise and Progress of Religion in the Soul: Illustrated in a Course of Serious and Practical Addresses, Suited to Persons of Every Character and Circumstance; with a Devout Meditation, or Prayer, Subjoined to Each Chapter. New York. American Tract Society. Nd. c.1830's. 452pp.
From the same series in which our little just-listed copy of Wilberforce's Practical View was issued; and it's fitting that this was volume one in the series and Wilberforce's volume two since Wilberforce's work was in many ways an updated version of much of Doddridge's thought.
Full calf, some rubbing as shown, but attractive and very solid. Contents sound with light foxing and toning; minor tide mark just at extremities of text block.
