Thomas Chalmers, at least to me, is one of the most fascinating divines of his era; instrumental in training up the Bonars, Robert Murray M'Cheyne, creator of incredibly innovative systems to bring economic well-being to people in his community in the name of Jesus, and then having had Edward Irving as his Associate Pastor . . . he sits at the center of a lot of important movements in the time.
Additionally, he wrote on astronomy, philosophy, and more.
