An absolutely superb half leather set of the complete works of Christian philanthropist, women's rights advocate, abolitionist, friend of William Wilberforce . . . the bishop in petticoats as they called her, Hannah More.

Included are her moral tales for the young, devotional writings, her blistering attack on fat and lazy upper class Christianity in England [which shares very much with Wilberforce's Practical View], her classic, The Slave Trade, etc., etc.,

Six volumes bound in three chunky 12mo volumes. As a nice a set as we've seen in some time.

More, Hannah. The Works of Hannah More. Volumes I-VI. London. H. Fisher, R. Fisher, and P. Jackson. 1835. Variously Paginated.

A very good copy, bound in half leather, very solid, with generally bright pages and light foxing.
