1837 ADONIRAM JUDSON. Personal Copy of Burmese Scripture w/ Handwritten Notes! Wow!!!
I will admit, we were a bit giddy when this one strolled our way. This is a true piece of translation and missionary history. The volume contains two important works of the American Baptist Mission Press in Burmah bound together as one; each scarce in its own right. More importantly even, they belonged to Adoniram Judson, being signed in pencil by Judson and then containing a dozen or so annotations to the text in Judson's hand in Burmese. Especially interesting is the second work, which is essentially Judson's personal copy of a translation of the essential parts of Scripture in Burmese containing Judson's manuscript translation notes. That makes this just one extraordinary little piece of history.
By descent through the family and from thence to a private collection. They just don't get much better than this!
