A lovely volume of 8 full MSs sermons, composing some 200+ pages, preached by Rev. S. F. Abbott of Lowestoft between June 1837 and March of 1838. Interestingly, eschatological themes dominate. These being preached during an important time for the new premillennialism in England. This would be right after the Albury Apostles, Edward Irving, John Nelson Darby, etc., Very evangelical and worthy of further study.
The texts include:
1. I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11.25, 26.
2. Call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver thee and thou shall glorify me. Psalms 50.15.
3. Christ in you the hope of glory. Whom we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. Colossians 1.27, 28.
4. Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Hebrews 1.14
5. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables. 2 Peter 1.16
6. And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth were passed away and there was no more. Revelation 21.1-4
7. And the Lord said unto him, arise go in to the street which is called straight and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus. For behold he prayeth. Acts 9.11
8. Thus saith the Lord, cursed be the man that trusteth in man, &c. Jeremiah 17.5-7.
A very good copy, bound in vellum, generally solid, with generally bright pages and light foxing.
