1838. JOHN HOWE [1630-1705]. The Works of Puritan Theologian and Cromwell Chaplain, John Howe.
Quite scarce, this is the early 19th century edition of Edmund Calamy's complete works and memoirs of the life of John Howe [1630-1705]. Howe was one of the pre-eminent puritan preachers and theologians of the time, serving largely in Ireland. He helped usher the Presbyterian church into the Emerald Isle, and served for a time as Chaplain to Oliver Cromwell.

Original pebbled cloth boards at some point respined in morocco retaining the original black linen spine titling. Some rubbing and losses to cloth. Still very attractive, bespoke binding and very clean and crisp generally. Definitely ready for many more years of use.
