Not perfect, but still a charming copy of a very desirable work in any period edition. Beautifully Christ-rich and timeless articulation of the beauty and love of Jesus from the correspondence of former slaver-trader, John Newton. He was, of course, also author of the immortal hymn, Amazing Grace.

Full calf, raised bands, lacking contrasting spine label, minor losses at head of spine and surface split on front hinge. Still, very attractive and sound. Interior has ex library stamps at prelims, but no card pocket [thank goodness]. Marbled endpapers and foredges in good state.
