Wonderful little group of over 100 clipped autographs mounted to two large album sheets; the clergy range from the 1840's through the 1860's or so and are heavily represented by Scottish divines, especially related to the Free Church of Scotland.
Many of those represented were signers of the Act of Separation in 1843, authors, etc.,
Just a sampling of the names include: Alexander Roberts; James Paterson; James Hamilton; James Stewart; John Reid; William Tweedie; J. Oswald Dykes; Samuel Cathcart; Charles Moinet; Alfred Edersheim; W. M. Thompson; Alexander B. Davidson; John Anderson; John Scott; W. P. Mackay; Alexander Stewart; William Miller; John Fordyce; Robert Scott; John Fraser; David Fergus; James A Craig; Alexander M. Symington; James Anderson; William Brown; John Pringle; etc. etc.
Also, on the rear of one leaf is an inscription by prominent Presbyterian missionary to China, Robert Gordon. He was also son of one of the early moderators of the Free Church of Scotland after the Disruption. He writes, "The Lord hath need of him. Luke 19.31. Robert Gordon. April 20, 1872."
