Very attractive copy of William Nevins' [1797-1835] classic little volume of practical thoughts on prayer, prayer meetings, the evangelization of world, the sabbath, etc., He was an old-school Presbyterian, contra Charles Finney, etc., pastoring in Baltimore and was very influential up until his untimely death.
As an interesting aside, he was married to the cousin of Francis Scott Key.

Very attractive full calf with deep hand-tooling to spine and fillet-tooled border on boards. Old stain to boards, not impacting text block. All leather consolidated and polished. Attractive marbled endpapers. Text good with some scattered handling and foxing. Very solid.
