A superb work regarding the founding of the Wyandot [Wyandotte] mission under the minister of Methodist pioneer, James B. Finley. The Upper Sandusky Mission was founded in Ohio [1821], and led to ongoing conflicts between Finley and the United States Government. He advocated for education for the Wyndot before the forced removal of the Wyandot to Kansas in 1843 and was deeply and publicly critical of the Governments treaty-breaking and abuse of the Wyandot people.

[Wyandott Indians, Native Americans, Methodism, Missionary] Finley, James B. History of the Wyandott Mission, at Upper Sandusky, Ohio, under the Direction of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Cincicnnati. J. F. Wright and L. Swormstedt for the Methodist Episcopal Church at the Book Concern. R. P. Thompason, Printer. 1840. First Edition. 432pp.

Original full calf with morocco title, handsome on the shelf with some rubbing as shown, through at corners and small split to upper rear hinge. Textually generally solid with one gathering forward and shaken and generally moderately foxed as shown throughout.
