An attractively preserved 1p. ALS from Nicholas Murray of the Presbyterian Board of Missions to Charles Hodge of Princeton regarding the donation of books to be sent to the Scottish Presbyterian church in connection with Robert Candlish, etc. A nice little survivor.
Rev. & dear Sir,
I drop you this line in haste. There is now here a Mr. Russell from Edinburgh, a lawyer, and a member of Dr. Candlish's Church, who sails for home on the 25th Inst. He offers to take the charge of all the boxes of books we can them forward. Wioll you see that what Princeton can contribute is forwarded to the Bd of Missions Rooms by the 20th so as to give time for packaging them. Proff. McLane promised to attend to this matte, but he may be absent. And hence I drop this note to you. If Proff. M is away could you not get some student to attend to the concern?
Pamphlets will be acceptable. Heave you any prints? There you know are asked for.
Affectionately yours,
N[icholas] Murray.
Oct 9, 1843.
