Superb archive of in excess of 500 pages of sermons and manuscripts by important New York and regional Freewill Baptist pioneer pastor and church planter, Reverend Isaac J. Hoag [1819-1891].
Born at Chatham, New York, young Isaac was converted to Christ at 15 years of age and became associated with the then "Free Baptists" at Stephentown, New York. He received a license to preach in 1846 and was ordained by the Freewill Baptists at Poestenkill, New York in 1848. He pastored many Freewill Baptist churches across New York and New England, pioneered four churches, saw fourteen young men from under his ministry pursue ordination with the Freewill Baptists, and recorded over 400 converts baptized over the course of his ministry. Over those years he pastored at Stephenstown NY, Poestenkill NY, Johnsburg NY, Chesterfield MA, Veteran NY, Parma NY, Odessa NY, Ellington NY, Hamlin NY, etc.
This comprehensive archive ranges from what seems to be his very first sermon through the entire of his ministry.
The first chronological item was preached in 1843 on Matthew 28.19 Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost with the end inscription, Donation Visit. The Compliments of the Committee to Etc. Your company is desired at the House of the Rev Isaac J. Hoag in Oakhill on a Donation Visit on Wednesday afternoon and evening, January 3, 1843.
