A publication for the Free Church of Scotland, published in India. Many interesting articles, much on missions in India, and a fascinating series of lengthy articles on historic Revivals in Scotland. Articles include: Revivals of the Church of Christ in Scotland – The Cambuslang Revival; Revivals of the Church of Christ in Scotland – Kilsyth, 1742; Christ’s Sovereignty, a Cause of Joy to His People, by the Rev. James C. Burns; Revivals of the Free Church of Christ in Scotland. Baldernoch, Kirkintilloch, &c. 1742-3; Revivals of the Church of Christ in Scotland, Stewarton (1625), Shotts (1630). Great content.
Fascinatingly, it has on the blank ffep, the signature of Captain John McKay, Jan 20, 1844. Ship Levant. McKay was one of the most important boat Captains on the Great Lakes from the 1840's through to the 1883 when he was the Captain of the Manistee, a 184 foot ship, when it sunk in Lake Superior. Nice provenance.
