An interesting early 19th century work on the role of women. Though the lens is primarily that of the ideal woman under the rubric of 19th century female Christian piety, the author expands the role of women beyond previous limits, both influencing and influenced by the burgeoning women's rights movement, after the groundbreaking works of Mary Wollstonecraft and previous to John Stuart Mill's On the Subjection of Women.
