1846 SAMUEL IRENAEUS PRIME. The Old White Meetinghouse. Old Time Revivals, etc.,
A very scarce imprint by Samuel Irenaeus Prime, who would just a few years later become forever associated with the 1857 Prayer Revivals at Fulton Street as its chief first-hand chronicler, etc.,
The present work, not available at auction or in the trade, is a charming production detailing in narrative form the last years of the Second Great Awakening and the Presbyterian and Congregational controversies [New Haven, New School - Old School, etc.,] through the lens of the local church. The work is Irenic [as his namesake] in tone and a very sort of slow, enjoyable stroll of a read.
Anonymous [Samuel Irenaeus Prime]. The Old White Meetinghouse; or, Reminiscences of a Country Congregation. New York. Robert Carter. 1846. 240pp.
A good + copy, bound in cloth, generally solid, with moderate foxing.
