1848-55 IRISH MISSIONARY HERALD. Revivals, Missions to the Jews, Presbyterian, Missionaries, etc.
A wonderful volume that is the assemblage of the famous Irish Presbyterian, James Morgan of Belfast [1799-1873]. Morgan's work on the Outpouring of the Spirit has been often reprinted. Dr. Morgan must have been one of the editors; many of the letters to the Editor are addressed to him.
The present volume is an irreplaceable sammelband of material related to the Irish Presbyterian Church and its missions. Includes:
8 broadside Missionary Reports of the Congregation of Fisherwick Place from 1849-1855.
Nearly 7 years of The Missionary Herald of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. 1848-1855.
Very scarce, let alone this superbly provenanced assemblage of nearly 7 years.
Extensive content related to Protestant missions in Ireland, Irish Presbyterian Doctrine, Revivals in the run up to the 1857 revivals in Ireland, Sabbath Observance, a lot of material the Jewish Mission [extensive and in nearly every issue], Call for United Prayer for Revival, Missionary Work in India [again, extensive], quite a bit of content regarding M. Frederick Monod from the Church of France, Persecution on Protestants in Ireland, etc. Nearly 800pp.
Original half leather; boards nearly detached and spine cover absent. Interior very good.
