1850 AMERICAN TRACT SOCIETY. Fine Assemblage of 15 Juvenalia Devotional & Historical Works
1850 AMERICAN TRACT SOCIETY. Fine Assemblage of 15 Juvenalia Devotional & Historical Works
A really lovely group of 15 matching binding volumes from the Youth's Library series published by the American Tract Society. Designed to comprehend a "complete" body of works for the formation of young Christians, the works chosen embody the values of the Second Great Awakening; conversion, personal sanctity, scripture, sabbath, and heroic missionary effort.
This grouping all derives from the same source, the Wesleyan Missionary Sunday School of Odessa, New York.
A wonderful snapshot of mid-19th century Christian pedagogy and ideals.
